Chiffonzie

Bonjour, mes amis!

A while back, I made fancy dinner plans with a bunch of friends to celebrate some kickass news.

Pre- dinner, I got ready with a few of my ladies. It's pretty much our tradition to do hair and makeup together before going out. As cheeseballs as it sounds, I definitely wouldn't be who and where I am today without my girls. Right before heading out, I was able to have an impromptu photoshoot with the beautiful Shelbella, who also did my hair.

I wanted to channel my inner goddess, but of course I had to tone it down, 'cause you know, the world wouldn't be able to handle it in all its glory. Just kidding. But really...

So what's a "chiffonzie", you ask? After hearing this term on Project Runway, I immediately fell in love with it. It was coined to label a designer who always reaches for chiffon to make a dress. I'm bringing it into the general world, and I see it as basically someone who loves chiffon a little too much. I find it to be so clever and adorable, especially because Fonzie and Happy Days were stellar parts of my childhood. With this particular all-chiffon outfit and the fact that chiffon pieces always attract me, I'm proud to say I'm a chiffonzie.

Top: Rhapsodielle || Skirt: Thrifted || Shoes: University Vendor Fair || Triple Arm Cuff: Forever 21 || Earrings: Forever 21 || Pyramid Studs Ring: Regal Rose (gift from cousin) || Accent Ring: Dollar store wedding table decoration

It's not two thumbs up like the Fonz, but my go- to wink and the gun will suffice.
Here's to you, good lookin'. All of you.

I usually stack on rings, and a head chain would have been the cherry on top, but I decided to keep it simple since the cuffs stole the show.

I hope y'all are doing great and staying positive. I would say "It's almost Friday, hang in there!", but the truth is, you shouldn't be dreading each day and only living for the weekends. Instead, try your best to enjoy each day (even at the job you loathe) and live in the moment. It's all about perspective. Days can be good or at least tolerable, I swear. We got this!

May the Fourth Be With You

"He Wears It- Star Wars & Fashion" || An illustration project by Hong Kong artist, John Woo

Bonjour, mes amis!

Geek Alert: I could never pass up a brilliant Star Wars reference. Just like how others love referring to Nsync near the end of April 'cause "IT'S GONNA BE MAY." It never gets old for us '90s kids.

But anyway, Happy Star Wars Day! The concept above of Star Wars meets runway is pretty rad. It may rub diehards the wrong way, but we should never really take anything too seriously. One day I will have a Star Wars party. And also take part in free comic book day. It has to happen. How is it that I'm always busy on those days every year? The universe is against me.

This is also the perfect day to spread some positivity around. I'll get to the peanut butter some other day... I really wish I could just hug all of you and whisper dramatically in your ears "May the Force be with you." We all face challenges every day, ranging from a scale of minute to immense, and a little encouragement and good wishing may be just the boost we need. Even if you're not facing a challenge, the Force can and should always be strong within you. TWENTY-FOUR/ SEVEN, YO. Take on each day with strength, confidence, good will, and so much more. Anything is possible if you work hard. Don't waste your wonderful, wonderful potentials.

I don't want to be a cheeseball, but it's helpful to read or hear motivating words. Say adieu to Negative Nancy. It's even more encouraging when a positive message is paired with music. It gives it that extra oomph. There are many songs out there that give out good vibes. Lately, one song has really stuck out to me.

AWOLNATION // Kill Your Heroes

They've created such a cute and funny music video for this song. I've been digging them so much. Based on my interpretation, this song is about living your life the way you want to, and not letting your fear hold you back. I actually appreciate that the message is not sugar-coated. They're saying that we're all going to die and some things are inevitably out of our control anyway, so we might as well cease our worries and live life to the max. Don't live vicariously through your heroes' lives- be your own hero. You don't need to live up to other people's standards. Make yourself happy.

What are some songs that encourage you?
