Heisenberg's Blue Sky

Bonjour, mes amis! I apologize for the blog's long hiatus... inexcusable. Jesse Pinkman would tell me that I just need to make Time my bitch. And I would full- heartedly agree.

As you can tell by the title, I'm a little under the influence of 'Breaking Bad' lately... just a little. *shifty eyes* I started the series in the summer of '12 and just stopped. What! Unheard of. I finally decided no more nonsense, and I'm currently marathoning it HARD to catch up. Now almost everything I see or hear in my daily life can relate to it in my mind, so naturally when I was thinking of a title for this post, just like the word association game, my blue hair reminded me of 'blue ice'.

Initially, I had asked my lovely cousin to help take a few outfit shots for me, but the process turned into a full- fledged photoshoot, and I am so happy about that. I do not know why my cousin isn't a makeup artist/photographer. HOMEGIRL GOT SKILLS. The photos turned out so great, I couldn't just choose a few. Hope you're prepared to see a lot of blue. (Disclaimer: the photoshoot was not Breaking Bad inspired.)

I hope y'all have been doing well! Stay positive, stay strong, STAY STREET.

Chiffonzie

Bonjour, mes amis!

A while back, I made fancy dinner plans with a bunch of friends to celebrate some kickass news.

Pre- dinner, I got ready with a few of my ladies. It's pretty much our tradition to do hair and makeup together before going out. As cheeseballs as it sounds, I definitely wouldn't be who and where I am today without my girls. Right before heading out, I was able to have an impromptu photoshoot with the beautiful Shelbella, who also did my hair.

I wanted to channel my inner goddess, but of course I had to tone it down, 'cause you know, the world wouldn't be able to handle it in all its glory. Just kidding. But really...

So what's a "chiffonzie", you ask? After hearing this term on Project Runway, I immediately fell in love with it. It was coined to label a designer who always reaches for chiffon to make a dress. I'm bringing it into the general world, and I see it as basically someone who loves chiffon a little too much. I find it to be so clever and adorable, especially because Fonzie and Happy Days were stellar parts of my childhood. With this particular all-chiffon outfit and the fact that chiffon pieces always attract me, I'm proud to say I'm a chiffonzie.

Top: Rhapsodielle || Skirt: Thrifted || Shoes: University Vendor Fair || Triple Arm Cuff: Forever 21 || Earrings: Forever 21 || Pyramid Studs Ring: Regal Rose (gift from cousin) || Accent Ring: Dollar store wedding table decoration

It's not two thumbs up like the Fonz, but my go- to wink and the gun will suffice.
Here's to you, good lookin'. All of you.

I usually stack on rings, and a head chain would have been the cherry on top, but I decided to keep it simple since the cuffs stole the show.

I hope y'all are doing great and staying positive. I would say "It's almost Friday, hang in there!", but the truth is, you shouldn't be dreading each day and only living for the weekends. Instead, try your best to enjoy each day (even at the job you loathe) and live in the moment. It's all about perspective. Days can be good or at least tolerable, I swear. We got this!

May the Fourth Be With You

"He Wears It- Star Wars & Fashion" || An illustration project by Hong Kong artist, John Woo

Bonjour, mes amis!

Geek Alert: I could never pass up a brilliant Star Wars reference. Just like how others love referring to Nsync near the end of April 'cause "IT'S GONNA BE MAY." It never gets old for us '90s kids.

But anyway, Happy Star Wars Day! The concept above of Star Wars meets runway is pretty rad. It may rub diehards the wrong way, but we should never really take anything too seriously. One day I will have a Star Wars party. And also take part in free comic book day. It has to happen. How is it that I'm always busy on those days every year? The universe is against me.

This is also the perfect day to spread some positivity around. I'll get to the peanut butter some other day... I really wish I could just hug all of you and whisper dramatically in your ears "May the Force be with you." We all face challenges every day, ranging from a scale of minute to immense, and a little encouragement and good wishing may be just the boost we need. Even if you're not facing a challenge, the Force can and should always be strong within you. TWENTY-FOUR/ SEVEN, YO. Take on each day with strength, confidence, good will, and so much more. Anything is possible if you work hard. Don't waste your wonderful, wonderful potentials.

I don't want to be a cheeseball, but it's helpful to read or hear motivating words. Say adieu to Negative Nancy. It's even more encouraging when a positive message is paired with music. It gives it that extra oomph. There are many songs out there that give out good vibes. Lately, one song has really stuck out to me.

AWOLNATION // Kill Your Heroes

They've created such a cute and funny music video for this song. I've been digging them so much. Based on my interpretation, this song is about living your life the way you want to, and not letting your fear hold you back. I actually appreciate that the message is not sugar-coated. They're saying that we're all going to die and some things are inevitably out of our control anyway, so we might as well cease our worries and live life to the max. Don't live vicariously through your heroes' lives- be your own hero. You don't need to live up to other people's standards. Make yourself happy.

What are some songs that encourage you?

Getty Yeti

Bonjour, mes amis!

It's a splendid day today- perfect for spending it at a museum, a park, the zoo, or anywhere to your heart's content. Go, be free, you wonderful explorers!

It makes sense to share some photos from my visit to the Getty Museum not too long ago. I'm such a sucker for museums and inspiring places in general. My family and I held my stepdad's birthday celebration there. We reserved two tables at the Getty restaurant for a grand lunch with family and friends, and received custom menus with his name on each one. It was pretty rad. We then spent the rest of the day walking around the ever so aesthetically pleasing museum.

Nerd Alert: I was super stoked that we were able to catch the Italian Renaissance exhibition that was only going on for three months. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take photos in the exhibition. SO NOT FETCH.

Hope this tickles your frontal lobes' fancy!

I'm also a sucker for architectural beauties.

Look ma, I went to Florence! What a gorgeous city. This is obviously NOT a photo of a photo...pfft...I did a pretty darn good job of editing it though. Is this considered plagiarism? Um. I give all credit to the Getty. But in all seriousness, Italy has always been on my travel wish list. Le sigh, one day...a gal can dream.

How sick are these clocks?

So me being the innovative person I am (diva hair flip), I unintentionally started a game of coin toss with this huge maze- like island. I just wanted to see if I could toss a penny into the very center of it, and my sister and cousin decided to join in. We were each able to reach right outside the center donut! Talk about a tease. After many, many attempts (our family is quite the tenacious one), spectators started joining in on our game. Not to toot my own horn, but *toot toot*. We also sparked up a conversation about what the difference between a maze and a labyrinth is. I always enjoy learning random facts. I think we decided this was neither.

I was able to get in a quick outfit photo (the tie was supposed to be a bow, but it fell apart):

Hat: Forever 21 || White Sleeveless Button- Down: Thrifted || Grey Cardigan: Target || Flannel: Thrifted || Jeans: H&M || Oxfords: Forever 21 || Bag: Thrifted || Chewbacca Keychain on bag: From a friend

If you have access to the LA area and have never been to the Getty (link), I highly suggest you check it out. Only if you want to be with the cool kids, you know. Among many other wonders, life is also about continuous learning and being exposed to beautiful, inspiring assets.

A whole new week is ahead of us- let's kick some ass! Be positive, be strong, and believe in yourselves.

Bear Necessities

Bonjour, mes amis!

Today is the perfect date. April 25th. Because it's not too hot and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.
-Miss Congeniality

My outfit from this past photoshoot doesn't do justice to today's weather. It's almost like winter wear. I've been digging stripes, denim, and olive lately. So I thought, why not put it all together?

Combat boots are my staple shoes no matter the season.
Beanie: ASOS || Denim vest: Forever 21 || Jacket: H&M || Pants: H&M || Boots: Forever 21

P.S. I just adore cacti.

Bonjour, mes amis!

And so the journey of Muse Warrior begins! I would like to formally introduce the little rascal to the world, because I’m a proud mama. But also because I’m a polite kid, I swear. What can I say- it’s in my blood. After all these months of brewing in my brain, the concept is finally born and ready to spread positive vibes and peanut butter.

Muse Warrior is a lifestyle blog created to share inspiration from the artistic and cultural spectrum, including fashion, beauty, music, photography, film, food, travel, and creative projects. The name is inspired by my fascination with Greek mythology and European history, as well as my affinity for the connotations behind each word. But before I start talking nerdy to you, you need to at least buy me a drink and work your charm.

So without getting down to the nitty- gritty details, I’d like to share why I dig the words so much. A muse is a source of inspiration for an artist. Because of its mythological roots, there’s a type of poise and power that come along with it. Being inspired and inspiring others in all kinds of ways is just so magnificent. A warrior is a brave fighter. I am forever inspired by Wonder Woman, Xena, and Joan of Arc (just to name a few) to lead a life of strength, courage, and confidence. Fine, plus a little inspiration from World of Warcraft…

Muse Warrior is all about being tenacious in your endeavors and living a positive, eclectic life. It aims to be a safe haven for all the fearless, independent & passionate dreamers.

I hope you join me on this daring and inspirational adventure.

 Xoxo
